The up-tempo band of 4
Who we are & the reason people come to hear us

Gillie Wheesels

The Gillie Wheesels evolved from a larger group and as the four of us shifted, we began to gather a sound and a presence that people gravitated towards.

Breathing a new energy into traditional music from Scottish composers like Robert Burns and Tannahill, we soon began to have more gigs up and down the Central Coast of California.  People would often comment how much fun we seemed to be having during performances and how much they enjoyed feeling like they were along for the ride.

Our level of musicianship shows through in the harmonies and arrangements of songs that others call old and traditional.  When you have a diverse group of musical backgrounds ranging from reggae to classical, the flavor is going to be different.  It's that difference that people have responded to and anxiously  await the release of our album in 2012

Some of the venues we have recently played include the Jade Festival in Big Sur, Monterey Highland Games & Festival, the Pourhouse, SLODown Pub, Gather Wine Bar & Inn at Morro Bay to name a few.
